Are we nearly there yet?
With a little over a month to go before we reopen our doors to the public we thought you would like to have a little sneak preview of our galleries. We’ve opened up our rooms and removed false ceilings, meaning the upstairs galleries in particular feel a lot more spacious. Also, the cabinets have a large amount of glass incorporated into them, so they don’t leave you feeling hemmed in.
With our new lift, accessibility has been improved and within the galleries there will be a variety of interactive displays so people can fully explore the subjects and objects we’re highlighting in a number of multisensory ways.
You asked, we listened
You can see the area near the front door housing our new café and shop. When we consulted with local residents, often the feedback mentioned having a toilet and somewhere to sit with a refreshment, especially for those that have small children or that want a little break before they carry on looking at our displays. After all, we will have a lot for you to see!
