The Chilvers Coton Centre Trust

The Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre is administered by the Chilvers Coton Centre Trust through the Board of Trustees. The Board is also assisted by the Honorary Trustees, Advisors and the “Friends of the Heritage Centre”.

Run by volunteers

The Centre is run by volunteers. It is open Tuesday, Thursday mornings and Saturdays. Other times by appointment. The Centre runs “Victorian Schooldays” for schools, details on request. These period schools are mornings or afternoon sessions for a maximum of 30 children. Teachers are welcome to “sit in”, though we do not allow any members of the public or non school staff to participate or to be present. This means certain rooms are “out of bounds” when school is in session. Our “Victorian Schoolmaster” takes the children through times tables, pounds, shillings and pence, writing with pen and ink and other items from the Victorian School curriculum. It is a fascinating lesson for the children and for the teachers! We also visit the Parlour for an interactive look at Victorian life and, dependent on the age of the class, a look at the extractive industries exhibits in the museum.
