Site of historic inn recorded in F White & Co.’s and Pigot’s databases. The latter shows it in existence in 1828.
Situated on the south side of Bridge street on the corner with Waterside, opposite the canal basin, in the medieval part of the town.
Listed building record (DWA4100) gives a date of c. 1800 for the inn, and C16 for the building.
3 Noted as inn on 1st edition 1:2500 County Series OS map.
Subsequently, noted as public house on 2nd ed., inn on 3rd ed. And unmarked on 4th ed. It is unclear from the data available whether the building was used as an inn or public house at this time.
However, it is now (2013) The Encore public house.
