Warwick

In 914, what we now know as Warwick was was established on a hilltop site by Æthelflæd, Lady of the Mercians. William the Conqueror founded Warwick Castle in 1068; the castle has been a prominent feature of Warwick since. The town’s architectural style has been affected by the Great Fire of Warwick in 1694, resulting in much rebuilding of the town during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
