My friends grandparents and mother ran the Warwick workhouse in later years. please are there any photos of the building when in use? Their name was Arthur and Ethel Measures (Master and Matron) 1911-1942
There’s an interesting photo of the demolition of ‘Lakin House’ the former workhouse building at the Record Office (PH 1035/B 8059). I’ve just added to this website a more modern photo of the Workhouse Infirmary (that still stands as part of Warwick Hospital on Lakin Road). It was built in 1903 to replace an unsuitable precursor so Ethel would have worked there.
