Nuneaton

Nuneaton is nine miles north of Coventry, and has a longstanding association with George Eliot, who was born in one of the Arbury estate farms in 1819. Her depiction of Arbury Hall can be read in Scenes of Clerical Life. Various buildings and places in Nuneaton were depicted in her literature, such as the Red Lion (which was based on the Bull Hotel, now the George Eliot Hotel).
