Notes about this historic site
1 1980: Excavation of Roman settlement (PRN 4466) produced evidence for burials on the edge of the settlement. About 35 burials were excavated – about six were cremations, half in pots. Of the inhumations two were crouched, the rest extended. Most of the latter were coffin burials. Only two contained grave goods – a bronze bracelet and an iron object resembling a cold chisel. A third burial had a coin in the backfill and several were buried with hobnail footwear.
