I have known about the four objects we have in our collections that relate to the suffragette movement for some time and have been fascinated by this period in history since a teenager. So, with 100th anniversary of women first gaining the vote, I wanted to make sure that we told the story of the movement for women’s suffrage in Warwickshire.

To celebrate the Museums at Night festival, your museum is throwing open its doors on the evening of Friday 18th May from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. This is a chance to see Market Hall in a new light (pardon the pun) and will allow you to enjoy a relaxed evening with friends.

How’s your memory? I must admit as I get older mine gets worse. On occasion, a great blank wilderness lives where I should be reminded to do something. Clearly, this cannot go on! Many things to do, and all that.

The last Friday and Saturday, the archive and museum services ended up closing early at some points. It’s rare indeed for the buildings to close to the public, so it was kind of noteworthy.

Towards the end of last year, I made my way north to beautiful Manchester for the national ‘Discovering Collections, Discovering Communities’ (DCDC) conference. It was really astounding to see some of the projects which other institutions have achieved, celebrating heritage and culture and having a real impact on their communities.
