Notes about this historic site
1 The Medieval church was first recorded in 1123. The present building was erected in 1779-80 (PRN 5472). Little is known of the old church, which consisted of nave, chancel, W tower and spire, and N porch, although Rous (d.1491) asserted that the chancel which stood in his day had been the choir of a nunnery, destroyed in 1016. It was said to have been very large, and to have had round-headed doors and windows.
