Notes about this historic site
1 The mill at Abbots Salford is recorded in 1086 and 1206. The mill was probably situated on the Avon near Cleeve Mill, as appears from an undated lease to Philip the steward of the mill with Mulecrofte, the mill pool, and an acre of meadow by the ford of Clive. The path across the fields from Abbots Salford village to Cleeve Mill may therefore be the mill road mentioned in a deed of c1236.
