Notes about this historic site

1 Possible watermill indicated by farm name and the layout of watercourses. An artificial dam of sizeable proportions cuts across what is known as Pool Meadow and it appears that much of this field could have been a pool. Leading from Pool Meadow is a possible water channel; this maybe a millrace. The channel runs parallel to the stream for about 400m before rejoining it. The channel is still partly waterfilled. Stones embedded in the ground at SP3957 could indicate the remains of a mill alongside the mill race. The surrounding fields were known as ‘Mill Hill’ and ‘Further Mill Hill’, although the names have now been altered.
