Notes about this historic site

1 Observation of groundworks in Sheep Street revealed a circular feature with limestone walls, possibly the base of an early post-medieval oven or malting kiln. Further ovens/kilns may be represented by spreads of limestone and clay nearby. Stone and brick wall foundations were also recorded in the south west of the site, with yard surfaces to the east. Post-medieval cess pools and a cistern, possibly associated with soap-making or brewing were also found.
