Medieval and post-medieval features at 31, 33 and 25 Brook St, Warwick

Description of this historic site

A pit cluster of Medieval and Post Medieval rubbish and cess pits was found during an excavation. Two ovens and pottery of the same period was also discovered. A small amount of Neolithic flint was also recovered. The site is situated on Brook Street, Warwick.

Notes about this historic site

1 165sq.m behind Nos 25, 31 and 33 Brook Street was excavated in summer 1973 prior to redevelopment. There were at least 33 cess and rubbish pits of Medieval and Post Medieval date, producing good pottery groups, two ovens and a square stone structure, thought to be a privy dating from late 18th to early 19th century.
