Notes about this historic site
A mill is recorded in 1279 probably at Yartford, probably where the lane to Chesford Bridge crosses the ‘Holebrok’, or Cattle Brook. This mill is recorded again at the Dissolution.
A map shows Upper Mill Furlong, Lower Mill Furlong and Mill Bridge Furlong above Yatford Meadow at the above grid reference.
This site is more likely than the one recorded in reference 1.
Information about the foundations of a possible bridge uncovered in 1967.
