Notes about this historic site
1 In 1792 labourers found on the summit of Temple Hill, some 0.3m below the surface, many human bones including a whole skeleton with a small piece of iron weapon in the skull. A few days later an ‘ancient weapon’ was found (PRN 5160).
2 The weapon is 15th to 17th century and is therefore unlikely to have any bearing on the mound as an artificial feature.
