Notes about this historic site
2 Cemetery with two Mortuary Chapels (PRNs 5478, 5479) marked.
34 Lovie reports the cemetery covering c. 8 acres, laid out on a grid pattern with central avenue. Originally two stone chapels set in north west (Anglican) and south east (Non-conformist) corners, brick lodge (now under separate ownership), boundary wall and mortuary. One chapel (Anglican), lodge and boundary wall survive at time of Lovie’s survey (1996/7).
Some good planting especially to W but many confiers over-mature at time of survey (1996/7).
Some good monuments including one to Rupert Brooke.
