Notes about this historic site
1 A watching brief carried out when the weir was demolished in February 2012 revealed remains of a 20th century weir and dam. Concrete wingwalls were uncovered which appear to date to 1950s or 1960s. The remains of an earlier wooden sluice gate probably dating to the 18th or 19th century was also noted.

Comments
The fields on the other side of the river from the the old mill and upstream of it if gone over show a large and complicated net work of disused and partly filled channels which would suggest that previous to the old mill there were other mills not neccesarily at the exact same location . On the same side as the old mill and upstream of it is a large reservoir which was filled by water pumped from the river by a wind pump its remains are still present(it has fallen over)it was still standing upright in the late 60’s leading from it are some channels that to me suggest that it could of been used to feed a Garden feature when the mill was a private house The island opposite the back of the mill was well planted with decorative trees and there are to hands on a plinth which look like they are all that remains of a garde statue of a seated person.
