Many thanks for this interesting peep into life during the war (a transcription might help those with less good eyesight).
I investigated the RMS Mauretania: according to Wikipedia she was named after the original famous Cunard ship (which served as a troop carrier in World War I but was scrapped in 1935). This one was launched in 1938; she served as a troop carrier all over the world during World War II and took war brides to Canada at the end of the war. She was scrapped in 1965.
Can only agree, a transcription would be fabulous.
