Wilmcote Quarry, near Stratford-upon-Avon, was the nineteenth century source of a near complete plesiosaur skeleton, a sea-going Jurassic marine reptile. Plesiosaurs were among the top predators of Warwickshire’s ancient seas, 200 million years ago.
The Wilmcote Plesiosaur is a unique Jurassic reptile skeleton and has been studied by experts from all over the world, since it was acquired in 1841. A full-size replica for display was constructed in 2016.
