Notes about this historic site
1 N of the original hall was a chapel with a large W window in the curtain wall. The first floor cuts across the window. The outline of the chapel is lost in the lower storey, occupied by a pantry etc.; the upper is a small hall or lobby to the present Great Hall N of it, and of the same width as the window. The E part now forms a comparatively modern wing projecting into the courtyard.
