Notes about this historic site
1 In 1086 there were two mills at Burton Hastings. Details of ownership exist for Burton Mill for the 19th century and 20th century. The mill still operates, though probably by electric motor. It is a three storey brick building. The waterwheel and machinery are thought to be in place, along with modern milling equipment.

Used to buy my rolled oats for pony from here. Then I kept a horse at breach lane Earl shilton farmhouse owned by Bert Morris from burton Hastings mill. Good old days,
Amusing memory Bert Morris used to visit his old farmhouse Breach lane Earl Shilton daily, he lit stove in kitchen put kettle on and asked if I would like a cup of tea, made the tea in a teapot poured mine into a cup asked if I wanted milk, proceeded into yard and squirted straight from his cows udder into my tea. Couldn’t get fresher than that.
