Rugby ‘RVGBY’
Several Warwickshire towns were built by the River Avon. Here it flows past Rugby before reaching Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. The Tapestry shows St Andrew’s church, that was largely rebuilt in the 1870s.
Watling Street was a major Roman road, running through Warwickshire from London to Chester. In the 1590s it was already an ancient roadway. Today it’s the A5.

It’s interesting to see that some places have got a lot larger (Rugby for example) whilst others have become tiny (Cosford – I assume this was Cofford – for example). The spelling and geography are a bit wayward!
