Warwickshire in 100 Objects: Mary Quant Boots

These boots were the height of fashion in 1967, they were designed by Mary Quant as part of her Quant Afoot collection. The style is influenced by the Chelsea boots made famous by The Beatles in the mid 1960s.

Mary Quant used contemporary and new materials to create her designs, these boots are made of PVC lined with white cotton jersey (the clear PVC has yellowed with time), there were other colours available including red and black.

There is Quant’s signature motif of a daisy on the sole, which meant the wearer would leave a trail of flowers as they walked.
