These shoes were made c. 1909. They have silk satin uppers and a low heel, with embroidered initials and a small paste gem on the front of each shoe.

They belonged to a Miss Gertrude Mabel Clutterbuck for her wedding to Edwin Francis Reynolds. The initials on the left shoe are GMC with the C crossed through, for her maiden name, and the initials on the right shoe are GMR for her new married name. Miss Clutterbuck had two suitors, and the rejected one insisted on buying her these shoes for her wedding.
