Description of this historic site
The site of a disused canal , a waterway used for transporting goods. This is also the site of a tunnel. Both date from the Imperial period and are part of the Oxford Canal. The canal is marked on the Ordnance Survey map of 1886. They are located to the west of Woolhamcote.

Notes about this historic site
1 The line of the Oxford canal before it was straightened shows up clearly on the 6″ OS map. However the position of the old tunnel, abandoned when the route was straightened, is harder to locate. Possibly it is the feature at SP 5265.
2 The old tunnel could not be located. Presumably it is in Northamptonshire. The line of the old canal is very obvious in many places as large waterfilled ditches.
