Well in West Street, Warwick.

Description of this historic site

A well dating from the post medieval period uncovered during construction work in West Street, Warwick.

Notes about this historic site

1 A well was uncovered during a watching brief. Th upper part consisted of a course of roughly cut sandstone blocks, some of which had handmade bricks (probably early 19th century) mortared on top of them forming at least one further course, below which it was cut into the natural sandstone. The fill contained a large number of similar bricks, and pottery from the 17th-20th century. The well may have been shared with 27 West Street as it was halved by the property boundary.
