4 The 1886 maps show a compact village with the buildings along the road which makes a U shape. The gardens, if any, are small and there are no orchards or trees at all. No boundary hedge. The ridge and furrow plotting doesn’t show any survival immediately around the village. The church [MWA992] dates from the medieval period.
