Site of Possible Shrunken Settlement at Kite Green

Description of this historic site

The site of possible shrunken village dating to the Medieval period. Documentary evidence suggests the site is located at Kite Green.

Notes about this historic site

1 There may have been a Medieval village at Kites Green.
2 This is probably the Domesday manor known as Witeleia which was valued at 3 hides and had land for 6 ploughs and a mill (see PRN 1249).
3 Whitley Farm probably marks the site of Witeleia. The site could have been around the above grid reference, but there are no indications of the village on the ground.
