Notes about this historic site
1 During trial trenching, trench 11 revealed a spread of late post-medieval brick and tile demolition rubble – possibly as mapped by John Kempson in 1807 – with late post-medieval pottery found nearby. Trench 13 revealed demolished structural features not shown on 1807 map but existing by late 19th century 1st edition OS. Trench 12 revealed a small 18th to 19th century gully or ditch cut by a second feature, possibly a channel or quarrying activity.
