Notes about this historic site
1 A short stretch of medieval stone wall was recorded during observation across the footprint of a new conservatory at Coombe Abbey. It was constructed of greenish-grey sandstone bonded with white mortar. It appeared to be over 1m wide and align parrallel with a wall identified in 1998, although the trench was not sufficiently deep to expose any continuation of that wall. This could be part of a building referred to as the Pigeon House on 17th century maps.
