Notes about this historic site
1 1976: Four trial trenches dug by hand revealed Post Medieval buildings (MWA4863). Three possible flood layers were found, one incorporating possible Medieval building material. In addition a late Medieval cultivation layer was found in Trench D and four features were earlier or contemporary with this. These ditches and pits produced Medieval pottery and tile. The absence of pre-C14 material may be a consequence of the lowering of the ground surface at some time or the site may simply not have been occupied before the C15.
