I have been researching my maternal grandfather and his ancestors, and found from the 1851 census my great great grandfather Christopher Bills worked here as cowman, he was 20 years old. He met his future wife Frances Allen who was dairymaid. The farmer he worked for was William Hodgkinson -it says 160 acres with 2 labourers.
How interesting it is to find out this is part of a medieval historic site.
