Description of this historic site

The site of a pond which is still visible as an earthwork. Of unknown date, the pond may have been a fishpond or associated with local brick manufacture. The site is in the Ash Plantation at Wedgnock Rifle Range.

Notes about this historic site

1 There is a pond in the wood, now drained, but it is still possible to see the inlet and outlet channels of the stream which fed it, as well as definite man-made banks along the S and E sides. This may be a fishpond or may have been associated with the brick kiln site (PRN 2563).
