Sacred Heart was actually built in 1959. I remember Fr Horgan at St Marie’s in Rugby worrying because he had to raise the money to build Sacred Heart and English Martyrs (Hillmorton) churches. As a child, the fund-raisers seemed to be endless! The design was later radically altered for modern usage and it is still beautiful.
