A sample of the Warwickshire Thick Coal, collected from the former Daw Mill Colliery near ArleyThe Thick Coal was targeted by many of the Warwickshire collieries for its thickness and quality, and contributed substantially to the former wealth of the Warwickshire Coalfield. This specimen bears testament to Warwickshire’s lost coal industry, as well as our changing attitudes to the exploitation of natural resources.
