This sweet press was used in a local sweet shop or chemist’s in Warwickshire in the early part of the 20th century. Warm sugar mixture would be rolled through the press to cut individual sweets – in this case pear drops.

The press is part of the Warwickshire Museum collections. As well as the pear drop mould seen in this picture, we have berry fruit shapes and a lozenge with ‘COUGH’ across one side.
