The site of Wibtoft bombing decoy, a system of lights, fires or dummy objects designed to confuse the enemy into dropping bombs in the wrong place, and so protecting RAF Bramcote. It is identified at this grid reference from documentary evidence.

Notes about this historic site

1 Type Q (night) decoy. The purpose of these sites was to simulate the flarepath lighting of permanent RAF stations. Bombing decoys covered large areas of open land; and very little tends to suvive.
2 Wibtoft was the bombing decoy for RAF Bramcote (MWA8099)
