Situated on the south side of the High street at the junction with Church street in the medieval part of the town, next to the church.
Listed building record (DWA2951) gives a date of mid/late C16 for the inn.

Comments
According to a letter sent to the British Magazine in 1762, this is where William Shakespeare allegedly took part in a drinking contest. Prior to writing the famous, “Shakespeare Villages” rhyme.
