Description of this historic site

Notes about this historic site
1 The manor house is thought to have been in a very dilapidated condition towards the end of the 15th century, presumbably because it no longer served as a major residence for an important family; indeed it may well have sheltered only a bailiff or an ambitious tenant farmer. By 1519 John Spencer had built himself a new manor house on the hill.
