Notes about this historic site
1 The manor house, erected about 1772, occupies the site of a more ancient building which stood near the church and had a moat (PRN 5641). The present building forms a large handsome mansion.
2 The manor house has been demolished and the area developed as a housing estate.

The old manor house used to be at the back of the house where I grew up in the 1950s, my family moved there in 1952 when I was two years old. The street was called Manor Estate, it was renamed School Street I can’t remember when, but probably after the Manor house was demolished. I remember playing in the grounds when the house was still standing but the interior was decayed. I would love to see any pictures of the house.
I have been given a newspaper cutting from 1954 reporting on the wedding of John Mitchell of Thurlaston and Miriam Anne Fellows of Hillmorton House at St Marie’s, Rugby. The reception was held at Hillmorton House and the couple made the house their home. The newspaper cutting is with two photographs of the prize giving at St Cross Hospital, Rugby, one dated July 1951 but I can’t work out a connection, if any, between the photos and newspaper cutting.
Does anyone have any pictures of the old house that has now maisonettes on where Aldi is? I keep trying to find any pictures/photos of it and can’t find anything of it. Thanks
