Millburn Grange
The site of Millburn Grange, a Medieval farm or estate that was associated with Stoneleigh Abbey. The site of the grange is located 100m north east of Millburn Viaduct.
1 Millburn Grange is mentioned in the Stoneleigh Ledger Book of 1305 which gives details of the Stoneleigh Abbey estates. The site is adjacent to a possible DMV.
2 A possible ditched enclosure feature, with a curved plan at the NW corner, is visible on LiDAR imagery (more pronounced on DTM rather than DSM) to the SW of the current farm buildings. A field boundary visible on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey mapping appears to follow the line of this ditch, but the ditch appears to be quite substantial and could relate to a moated feature given its location within the site of the Grange.
