Lovie states that ‘Holly Walk’ includes both Regent Grove and Hamilton Terrace, known as Lower Holly Walk and Upper Holly Walk at the time of his report (1996/7).
This appears to have been the first public space in the new town and was already established as a place of promenade as early as 1816. Straight walk lined with holly trees, gate piers at W end and railings. The walk formed part of the early designed urban landscape and continues to play an important role in forming the special characte of Leamington Spa.
Lovie reports that the walk survives well at the time of his report, although the holly trees are largely gone, the gate piers and railings lost.
Love suggests that this would make a very suitable restoration project.
