Comments
Re the statement ‘Little designed landscape’:: The large flat area alongside Bridge Street to the swimming pool was excessively marshy and was raised and levelled using spoil from several locations in the early 20th century; the flat area alongside Forrest Road was levelled post WW2 for use as the agricultural showground; between the car park and tennis courts are two terraces made from spoil created by 20th century Abbey excavations.
