Hauntings have been reported around here. In the twentieth century people reported rappings, door slammings and have seen and smelt the perfume of a grey lady. The shapes of monks have been seen around the hall and church at around dusk.

There are said to be two secret tunnels going out from the cellars. One of them is brick lined and goes straight for about a hundred yards before splitting in two. One branch goes towards the church, but has since fallen in. Whilst the other is said to go towards the waterfall on the river. However it gets narrower as it goes along and is impossible to go the full length. There was another tunnel that went from the cellars, under the river and terminated under some old Roman baths. However the then owner (this would have been the 1930’s) was worried about water getting into the house and had it blocked up at the cellar end.
