My father worked for many years down the mine (Hall End Colliery) and was a Deputy. He started from school. My Grandfather also worked down the mine. He was in charge of the pony’s that were used in the mine and later when they were not used, he came an engine driver. My other Grandfather also worked down the mine but he was at Pooley Hall colliery.
