The photograph shows an extension being built to Dordon Working Men’s Club, Long Street, Dordon. The firm building the extension would be Rooms, a local building firm.
My grandfather Henry James Southam (1877-1953) was in partnership with Edgar Rooms and Albert George Aldridge carrying on business as Builders and Contractors… under the style or firm of Southam, Rooms and Aldridge. This firm was dissolved on 1 October 1923. (p.7718 The London Gazette, 9 November, 1923). I am unaware of whether Southam, Rooms and Aldridge came into being before or after this photograph was taken. My grandfather was a house builder. A carpenter and joiner by trade he undertook a variety of work locally which included contracts for the local council.
