This photo is a great reminder of what the canal-side used to look like. However its not Rushmore Terrace as the houses are quite different as is bridge 37a. This is much nearer the Rangemaster factory
The houses on the left would be the back of White Street. The bridge is definitely the footbridge known as ‘the ladder bridge’ which carries the ancient Lillington to Whitnash footpath over the canal. The Rangemaster factory (formerly Flavels) would therefore be on the right of the bridge.
Could this be Rushmore Place? My late husband’s Mum and Dad lived at number 12 in 1939 and her parents were next door. Her family had moved down from Lancashire and sadly her young brother drowned in the canal whilst playing on the canal bank.
