In the 1950s and 60s the youth of the village could socialise on Friday evenings at choir practise. This was followed by a treat of Fish’n’Chips at the chippie on Banbury Road. If not the fish, then a bag of chips smothered in salt and vinegar!
On Sundays the choir sang at the Mattins service. Boys from the Reform School at Little Kineton were marched down each Sunday to attend church. We were paid (sixpence) to sing at weddings. There was also an active team of bell ringers. Another lucrative occupation as we were paid a small amount to ring the bells at weddings.
