Notes about this historic site
1 Woodchurch would seem to preserve the tradition of what is probably only a chapel. Ragley MS iii would seem to place Woodchurch near Pitchill Farm.
2 No trace of desertion was found.
3 Pitchill, where there once seem to have been a number of houses, now demolished, was alternatively known in the 17th century and 18th century as Woodchurch. The name survived until the beginning of the last century. This name was probably given to it by Sir Simon Clark from the Kentish village that his ancestors came from.
