Historic hotel recorded on F White & Co.’s, Pigot’s, and Victuallers’ databases. The latter shows it in existence in 1806.
Situated on the west side of the High street, in the centre of Henley, close to St John’s church, in the medieval part of the town.
Listed building record (DWA3474) gives a date of C19 for the public house, and early C17 for the building.

Comments
Said to have been the haunt of poets and writers in the nineteenth century. William Shenstone is said to have written one of his most famous poems here.
